It’s been a massive week for Melbourne prog metallers Circles. Ahead of a second full-length due out later this year, the group have welcomed guitarist Ben Rechter to the fold, fresh from a stint in alt-rock band Glass Empire. On top of that, the band announced that they’ve also been picked up by Bear Parts Music, a boutique artist management company based out of Melbourne.
Well, it seems the big announcements from the Circles camp just keep coming: today they’ve gone and gifted us with a new djent-tinged banger in the form of “Sand & Wind”. Technical yet full of hooks, the soaring new track is fans’ first taste of new music since the band’s 2013 debut, Infinitas, and cements the crew as a serious force in Australia’s burgeoning prog scene.
“We’ve been bunkered down for just over 12 months writing and recording our second (yet to be titled) full-length album,” says drummer Dave Hunter. “One thing we all agreed on was that we didn’t want to write ‘Infinitas 2.0’. Without giving too much away, this will be a side of Circles that people wouldn’t have heard before and we’re really excited about it!”
“Sand & Wind” will be getting a spin on triple j’s The Racket later tonight, but you can stream (and download) it in all of its glory right now.
Head over to the Blunt Magazine website to hear “Sand and Wind”.
Also, in celebrating the new addition of Ben to the band we are doing a very special one off Melbourne performance on 1st April at The Workers Club to officially welcome him into the band.
